Why More And More People Are Visiting Dahab In Egypt

There was a time when Dahab was just a small fishing town with minimal tourist activity. However, a lot has changed over the years, with the area now one of Egypt’s more popular destinations. Why is that? Well, it seems there are several excellent reasons why Dahab is now the place to be.

The Blue Hole

Most popular tourist spots have at least one major attraction that piques people’s interest. For Dahab, that’s the Blue Hole. It’s one of the most captivating diving spots in the world, and it has a terrifying reputation that’s done little to scare people away. Even though it’s considered the most dangerous diving spot around, people still come here to harness their skills and show everyone what they’re made of. It helps that there are also plenty of other places to dive nearby for those who don’t wish to risk their lives.

The Blue Lagoon

Dahab isn’t only great for divers. The water here is also pretty perfect for other water sport enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy wind and kite surfing. The region receives a decent amount of wind that makes going up in the air relatively easy. Combine that with the flat surface of the water, and you’ve got a recipe for success. Although the Blue Lagoon might not offer great amenities for casual tourists – such as internet and phone reception – it is ideal if you’re looking to switch off from the world.

Wadi Qnai

While Dahab’s water might seem like the town’s biggest selling point, other features here are also contributing to its growing popularity. That includes the rock climbing opportunities, with Wadi Qnai the region’s best site for such an activity. No matter your level of experience, you can come here and test yourself on the rock walls. If you visit outside of the summer months, you’ll find that the temperature is cool enough to climb without much hassle. Alternatively, you can always camp here in the summer and simply go climbing at sunrise. The early-morning light paints quite a stunning picture as you make your way up.

Some peace and quiet

One of Dahab’s greatest selling points is something that could eventually disappear if it becomes too popular. We’re referring to the town’s quiet nature, with the region a world away from the bustling cities we’re used to. While Dahab obviously isn’t devoid of residents and tourists, it’s empty enough that you could go a whole day without seeing many people. That makes it the perfect place for a quiet getaway, somewhere you can disappear to when the rest of the world is too much to cope with. However, if the region continues to grow in popularity, this place could just become another tourist spot that’s always bustling with activity.

If you’re looking for somewhere to vacation in Egypt that’s as peaceful as it is stunning, then Dahab is definitely for you. It might not have all the amenities you’re after, but it’s one of the best places to escape to right now.
