Alger Lake

Alger Lake is a popular choice as each site comes with its own fire pit and picnic table, providing plenty of space for families. The hiking trails and fishing spots are just an added bonus.
Heart Lake
Being so convenient is a major plus for Heart Lake. It comes with everything someone could need to enjoy time on the lake, but that’s not all that’s on offer. Heart Lake also offers up plenty of hiking trails that are suitable for everyone as some take advantage of the flat shore surrounding the water.
Indian Lake
If you’re a fan of watersports, then Indian Lake should be at the top of your list when it comes to camping in the Adirondacks. There are 55 campsites found throughout the area, each located on its own private island. Here, people can enjoy the 12-mile-long lake from a kayak or boat.
Lake Lila
Lake Lile is completely tucked away from the rest of New York, especially as 18 of the campsites can only be accessed by boat. The fact visitors don’t have to reserve their lodgings makes a trip to Lake Lila popular for people who want to be a little sporadic with their travels.
Newcomb
Being surrounded by lakes and plenty of wildlife makes Newcomb a popular choice when it comes to camping in the Adirondacks. There are plenty of historic lodges that have been preserved over the years and seven tent campsites that surround the lodge. The best bit? You can even reach it by horseback.
Cranberry Lake
People have to be prepared to travel to get to Cranberry Lake, but it’s worth it in the end. The lake has a grand total of 165 campsites, meaning there is plenty of room. It’s also close to Bear Mountain that comes with a purpose-built lean-to for adventurers looking to get a look over the third-largest lake in the Adirondacks.
Saranac Lake
One of the best things about Saranac Lake are the 87 boat access-only campsites that fill the lake. It comes with all the privacy many people want from camping trips while still having plenty to do. Campsites are primitive. But they all come with fire pits and outhouses.
Believe it or not, but camping in the Adirondacks is even more picturesque than many of us ever believed.
