Ibiza might be considered one of the world’s premier party places, but there’s so much more to this island than all-night ragers. There are dozens of attractions here that are just as worthy of your attention and will ensure you have the vacation of your dreams.
Cala Comte
You can’t go to Ibiza and not spend some time on the beach. Of course, if you’re someone who prefers swimming to sun-lounging, Cala Comte is where you should head. This is the place to be if you want to hang out in the sea, with the shallow water making it a perfect spot for people of all ages. You could easily lose an entire day here simply splashing around with your fellow vacationers.
Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art
If you love a bit of culture on vacation, the Museu d’Art Contemporani should keep you busy. It houses works from several world-renowned artists, including the island’s own Antoni Marí Ribas. Given Ibiza’s size and reputation, you might not expect this place to blow you away. However, the quality of the art here is truly incredible and definitely worth a few hours of your time.
Dalt Vila
Even the biggest party islands have a rich history worth exploring. You might not think of Ibiza as having a vibrant past, but a visit to Dalt Vila will quickly change your mind. Exploring the old town with its ancient walls and cobbled streets really helps you to see the island in a new light. It’s a great place to take stunning photos, and it’ll give you a glimpse of Ibiza’s roots that you never knew you needed.
Puig des Molins
If Dalt Vila isn’t quite enough to satisfy your curiosity, the Puig des Molins may be what you’re looking for. Here, you’ll find a necropolis with around 3,000 tombs and an archaeological museum that can tell you more about them. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so you know it’s a place of vital importance. Although you might not be able to visit all the tombs, the ones you can see won’t leave you disappointed.
Casita Verde
Just like many other places in the world, Ibiza is doing its best to try and be more sustainable. You can see that clearly at Casita Verde, an eco-education project run by volunteers. Open to the public every Sunday, this farm offers all sorts, from live music and vegetarian meals to massages and workshops.
Es Vedrà
Anyone who’s familiar with mythology, particularly that related to Ibiza, will know about Es Vedrà. It’s here that the Phoenician goddess Tanit was supposedly born, and it’s also where Ulysses was nearly lured away by sirens in Homer’s Odyssey. There’s even a fable – Es Gegant des Vedrà – about two brothers who went here and crossed paths with a giant. We can’t promise you’ll find one of those if you go there, but you may well get some amazing photos.
Ibiza might know how to throw an amazing party, but clearly, the island has more to offer than just that.
