In today’s day and age, it’s incredibly easy to simply book a flight from one destination to the next. While this can make your traveling adventure pretty efficient, have you ever wanted to take yourself off the beaten path and see what those in-between destinations look like? Well, sleeper trains and buses give you the chance to bypass airport lines and strange accommodation and allow you to travel from one destination to the next while checking out various other locations at the same time. Of course, the main idea of a sleeper train or bus is that you sleep through the night, but how do you stay comfortable in such a situation?

The early bird
We all know that the early bird catches the worm, and this is definitely true when it comes to sleeper trains and buses – especially if you buy a ticket that doesn’t come with a designated seat. Turning up to a bus station early means that you can choose whichever seat you want and that you can get the first choice of the seats that you want. If you want our advice, try and stay as far away from the restroom as possible.

Keep warm
While there are some overnight trains and buses that don’t come with air conditioning, most of them do. Considering your body temperature lowers while you’re sleeping, it’s important to ensure that you stay comfortable and warm during the night. One of the best ways to do this is to keep a layer by your side if you get cold. You can use a jacket as a blanket, or you could just bundle it up to make a pillow. If you’re too cold, you may struggle to sleep, making the sleeper train or bus feel much longer than it really is.
Stock up on snacks
Overnight transport can get pretty boring, and if you don’t want to spend all of your time staring out of the window or trying to get to sleep, it might be an idea to stock up on snacks. There’s nothing worse than being hungry and not knowing when you’re next going to stop, so make sure you have a bag full of snacks that won’t make your mouth too dry – as you’re going to want to drink a lot if that’s the case. The more you drink, the more you will need to go to the restroom, which isn’t ideal in such conditions.

Take earplugs
There are always going to be people on any train or bus that want to stay awake, and these people can be pretty disruptive. Perhaps one of the most important items you could take on a sleeper train or bus would be earplugs, as these can allow you to drown out all of the news around you. This should make things more comfortable, as you can simply sit down and let the time pass without being rudely interrupted.
Planning on taking a trip on a sleeper train or bus? These tips will definitely help you out.
