These Restaurants Also Come With Impressive Art Collections

When you go out for a meal, good food is what people typically hope for most. However, there’s more to a dining experience than just what’s on the menu. The decor can play a pivotal role in whether or not you enjoy yourself. That’s why some restaurants around the world second as art exhibits.

Art and cooking are both creative skills, so it’s understandable how one can influence the other. When it comes to Audrey in Nashville, it’s the former that apparently impacts the latter. The collection – which contains both chef Sean Brock’s own works and that of others – motivates him to create food that will leave diners happier than when they arrived. He generally has no trouble achieving that, especially with all the artwork around that reflects his Appalachian heritage.

Sketch Gallery

Do you love pink? If so, you’ll probably feel right at home in London’s Sketch Gallery. This vibrant eatery is covered in the color everywhere you look, from the walls to the furniture. Of course, you can’t see a lot of the former because it’s partly covered by David Shrigley’s collection of graphic prints. 91 pieces of art line the walls of this restaurant and fit perfectly with the establishment’s whimsical aesthetic. There are also ceramic pieces of Shrigley’s on the tables.

Osteria Francescana

There’s no denying Massimo Buttura’s skill in the kitchen; just look at his Michelin stars. However, it seems one of his passions outside of cooking is art. That’s why his Osteria Francescana in Modena is home to some incredible contemporary works of art. The likes of Maurizio Cattelan, Takashi Murakami, and Damien Hirst are all represented in this restaurant that will blow most of your senses away.

There’s so much to see in Zurich. However, if you’re after art during a trip to the Swiss city, you don’t need to visit galleries or museums. Instead, just dine at Kronenhalle. This restaurant has been collecting artwork for the best part of a century; sourcing works from Picasso, Matisse, and Robert Rauschenburg. With names like that, you know the collection here is truly something to marvel at. The fact that some of these paintings were gifted to the restaurant too just proves that plenty of artists have faith in what Kronenhalle offers.

You don’t have to leave the US if you want to enjoy some fine art with your food. Atlas in Atlanta is a hotel restaurant that showcases some of the greatest works from the 20th century. Its gallery is constantly changing, meaning each new dining experience can offer something different. Artists who have been represented here before include Francis Bacon, Picasso, and Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita.

The decor might not always be your primary concern when you go to a restaurant. However, the nicer the atmosphere, the better your dining experience. Being surrounded by excellent works of art can really have an impact on that, so it’s worth searching out places like these. After you’ve visited a few, you might even find that you can’t eat anywhere without great artwork.
