These Are The Best Hiking Trails In The UK

If you’re heading to the UK in the near future, there’s a high chance that you have already added the likes of Buckingham Palace, Stonehenge, the Giant’s Causeway, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, and so many other amazing attractions to your bucket list. However, if you’re the kind of person that also loves to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist attractions, you’ll be happy to know that the United Kingdom is full of amazing hiking trails that are just waiting to be explored.

Hadrian’s Wall

One of the most famous hikes in the world takes you along the historic Hadrian’s Wall, which was once used by the Romans to protect their homes and their livelihoods from enemies. Spanning across a beautiful 135km, this hike will take you from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway and take you through some of the most stunning countryside that England has to offer. The best part? There’s very little chance of you getting lost, as you simply follow the wall the whole way!

The Lizard Coastal Walk

No trip to the United Kingdom would be complete without a trip to Cornwall, as some of the beaches here look like they have been picked up from the Caribbean and placed right on the edge of the English coast. If you want to see what all of the fuss is about, the Lizard Coastal Walk will allow you to do just that. This 11km hike will take you in a circular fashion from Kynance Cove and back to the same beach, offering incredible scenery at the same time. As if that wasn’t enough, this route is full of amazing wildlife.

Lairig Ghru

As you can probably tell, this hike can be found in Scotland – and it’s definitely worth the trip up there. Known officially as a mountain pass, this hike takes you through the Cairngorms of Scotland and requires a pretty impressive incline if you’re up for it. Considering the conditions and the weather in Scotland are much harsher than in the rest of the United Kingdom, this hike may have you walking in the snow, but if you ask us, that’s what makes it so much cooler.

Helvellyn

The Lake District is a national treasure in England, due to the immense beauty of the area. If you’re looking to check out this area – while also testing out your lungs at the same time – then why not add Helvellyn to your bucket list? This mountain path allows you to check out amazing glacial coves, and that’s before you even mention the view from the top. It’s not an easy hike, but it’s one that will make you feel a sense of achievement when you reach the peak.
