Great leaps are being made regarding space tourism. However, we’re probably still a long way off from being able to spend a week-long vacation on Mars or the moon. Fortunately, while we wait to go to infinity and beyond, there are plenty of great spots on Earth that ought to keep space lovers satisfied.

Mission to Space Villa, Florida
For fans of Walt Disney World, the Mission to Space villa is perfect. It’s less than half an hour from the park, not that you need to go anywhere for some entertainment. The villa is home to a movie theater, arcade, and bowling alley, so there’s always something to do. Plus, the area is beautifully decorated for space fans, with the decor somehow retro and futuristic at the same time. The murals of the universe on the walls and ceilings are particularly worth admiring.

Apollo 11 Ship, New Zealand
You have to make a ton of sacrifices when you go to space, one of which is comfort. When astronauts first traveled to the moon, they did so in a rocket that was a little on the cramped side. The tight conditions were worth what they got to see, though, and someone in New Zealand has now tried to recreate that experience. The Apollo 11 Ship at Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve is a replica of the iconic space vehicle that will really help your imagination run wild. You can feel like one of those men from the ‘60s as you get cozy in the single-bed ship and sleep under the stars.

Star Trek USS Enterprise Room, Oregon
Plenty of people look to sci-fi shows as a vision of the future. Whether we’ll ever manage all the advanced technology you see in these series is uncertain. However, that doesn’t make the programs any less entertaining. One of the most beloved franchises in the sci-fi genre is ‘Star Trek,’ which has spawned many spin-offs over the years. If you’re a fan of the original show, then you’ll love this hotel room in Oregon that’s modeled after the USS Enterprise. With plenty of relevant props and a few surprises here and there, it’s the perfect place to stay for any devoted Trekkie.

Twelve Parsecs, Florida
Another space destination that’s near Walt Disney World is Twelve Parsecs by Loma Homes. If you’re more into ‘Star Wars’ than ‘Star Trek,’ this accommodation is perfect for you because the various bedrooms are themed after locations from the film series. Places like Hoth, Cloud City, and the Millennium Falcon are all faithfully recreated here, giving you the impression that Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia might show up at any moment. Unfortunately, we can’t promise an appearance from those characters. However, we can almost guarantee that if you love ‘Star Wars,’ you’re going to enjoy being here.
As exciting as it would be to visit space, these destinations are far cheaper and easier to get to than other planets right now. So, as long as you don’t mind dealing with normal gravity for now, they’re definitely the places to be.
