When you only have a weekend to spend in Mumbai, you want to try and make the most of it. Of course, you can’t enjoy everything that’s on offer in 48 hours, no matter how hard you try. Luckily, you can still squeeze in enough to ensure you enjoy the magic of your destination.

Stay in luxury
You can’t spend 48 hours in Mumbai if you don’t have anywhere to stay. Luckily, the city has plenty of incredible accommodation options, such as The Oberoi. The seafront hotel offers the most amazing views of Marine Drive, which is nicknamed the Queen’s Necklace for a good reason. Although things are a little on the pricier side at 26,000 RS ($366), you pay for a top-quality experience here. Butlers are on hand to serve your many needs, and they offer the finest in customer service.
Where Bollywood was born
One thing India is well-known for is its Bollywood scene. It’s the country’s version of Hollywood – hence the name – and it’s based in Mumbai. Although you can’t just walk onto the sets and speak to the stars, you can see where some of them live. A common sight on Bandra’s Bandstand Promenade is people taking pictures outside of Bollywood icon’s homes in celebration of their success. If you want to feel like a local, why not join in?

See the essential sights
You can’t visit somewhere like Mumbai and not do some sightseeing. The city is filled with incredible things to look at and explore, including the Gateway to India. Although this area can get fairly busy – we’re talking about thousands of visitors at any one time – it’s quite a sight to behold. You can find it in the south of Mumbai in the neighborhood Colaba.
There’s also the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and train station. The architecture is something to really marvel at, and you can join the millions of others who walk through it every day.
Shop ‘til you drop
Going to Mumbai to do some shopping might seem like a waste of time, but you can’t visit the famous city without getting a souvenir of your travels. Whether you opt for a tacky trinket or something you’ll actually use regularly, you can find it all at Phoenix Market City. This is the biggest mall in the area, and it has all the stores you could possibly need. You’re bound to find something worth buying in here.

Out in the nightlife
If you’re in Mumbai, then you have time for at least one night out on the town. Anyone looking to experience what the city has to offer after dark should check out Kamala Mills. Plenty of bars and restaurants are located here, all of which offer authentic local drinks and delicacies. Whether you’re looking to get wild or just want to enjoy dinner with your plus one, you’ll find a lot to suit your fancy here.
The magic of Mumbai is waiting for you, so why not get out there and discover it.
